Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality technologies have been conquering the world in the past few years, but their presence is still very brief in the blockchain universe. However, the great interest in these technologies, especially with a combination of blockchain and NFT benefits is only natural to emerge with the advances of the latter. It is now possible to create virtual worlds where all the items are truly unique and can be viewed in the combination with a real environment using AR technology or even to dive into a fully immersive world with the use of Virtual Reality. VR headsets can transport the user to any real or virtual location in a matter of seconds, just by putting the head-mounted display on. Exploring the virtual environment and diving into a completely new world becomes easier every day with the advances in technology and the HMDs being available to a wider audience.
The development of the new generation of head-mounted displays (HMD) and AR glasses can create a new foundation and new possibilities to employ using blockchain technologies. One good example of the upcoming Apple AR glasses is promising to deploy the Augmented Reality technologies into their users’ everyday life by synchronizing with their smartphone devices and bringing content in front of them through the glasses. Another interesting feature that is rumored to be integrated into the AR smart glasses is the ability to adjust according to people’s eyesight.
On the other hand, VR can create a completely unique digital presence for the user, extending not only to his appearance but also to the environment. It is possible to keep exotic pets, own virtual property, or even whole cities and countries to rule over. The possibilities that are presenting themselves with the merge of today’s technologies seem to be limited only by the fantasies and desires of the users and creators, transforming completely the rules and experiences possible in our world.
